South American crime The South American organized crime operates mainly in various regions of northern Italy and, to a lesser extent, in Lazio.
It is a question of partnerships that in addition to being dedicated to the commission of crimes against the heritage and exploitation of prostitution collaborate with other foreign or Italian consortia in the management of drug trafficking from Latin America.
As far as cocaine traffic is concerned, the importation takes place through air and maritime routes using intermediate steps to evade police and customs controls.
A phenomenon at the centre of the repressive action concerns the South American bands, c.d. pandillas, whose vitality has confirmed the strong identity connotation by virtue of the deep ethnic and cultural bond that unites the members, young peers who live in the same neighborhood, driven by the search for social affirmation, easy to use violence even only by demonstration.
The pandillas are characterized by the fulfillment of street predatory crimes – cd. streetcrimes – and crimes related to the spread of narcotic substances, however often characterized by acts of violence as emerged in the operation of the Mobile Team of Milan that the 19 aprile 2023 has performed a ruling of cautionary custody arranged by the GIP of the Tribunal of Milan81 against 9 Italian origins.
These were accused of criminal conspiracy, as suspected of belonging to the aforementioned criminal group dedicated to the commission of crimes against the property and the person, also through the port of weapons or objects to offend.
